Why Face oil?

I was a fan of soft moisturizing creams and lotions for a long time. I have tried almost all drug store brands as well as some really big brands but what worked for me best has always been my home formulated simple oil concoctions! Just to tell you my skin type, I have oily skin. I grew up in India and there it was part of the routine to use normal home remedies. Mom made it a point for me to use coconut oil, mustard oil for regular use. I do not remember using body lotions after a shower until I moved to the USA. Honestly! You can judge me however you want but yes, I did not use a body lotion, what I did use was a simple oil and water emulsion. We used to keep it in our bathroom, and we used it after every shower. I used it on my face too 😊
But as I grew in my teens and got into university and friends and peer pressure, I started using whatever my friends suggested. Nothing wrong with it, I was trying new things 😊 but in that process, I messed up my skin’s natural balance. My skin used to become so oily that I would not want to touch my face. All these lotions and face creams have different types of chemicals. Have you ever tried reading those labels? I feel, half the label is just the ingredients! And I feel some of the hidden ones we don’t even realize; we are putting on our skin. So, when I got a little mature (which is after I became a mom myself 😊) I went back to simpler things. I started making my oil mixes and using them. The good part of having kids, you can try your products on them too!!

I also did some research and I found that contrary to everyone’s belief, putting a few drops of oil is better for the skin even for the oily skin type. What you are doing is tricking your skin cells to not release sebum/oil to create a barrier. Oils protect your skin. They are lipophilic, they can penetrate deep into the skin, trapping water and other moisturizing goodness in, while keeping toxins and other bad stuff out. Some oils also help to fortify and strengthen our natural skin barrier. What one must account for is the amount and type of oil that they use. You do not need to buy expensive skin products, you could use simple coconut oil, or Almond oil, or Olive oil. Always start from few (2-3) drops and adjust based on your skin response. I do not just use oil on my face as a moisturizer, I also use oil-based cleansers and scrubs. I am all in for oils!
In case you want to try an oil mix, I have created my blend of face oil, check it out! https://www.atimasorganicals.com
My ‘face oil’ base is Almond oil, which is very light and non-comedogenic. It includes Tamanu oil and Frankincense. Tamanu is used quite a bit in Southeast Asia, as its rich in antioxidants, has anti-aging properties, and acts as a skin tone corrector. Frankincense is useful for mature skin as it relieves wrinkles. Acts as an age spots corrector. My blend of face oil keeps free radicals at bay because it is rich in antioxidants. It acts as a smooth base under makeup, helps protect your skin, and reduces pore size.
I also do custom oil mixes based on skin types and needs. I have multiple oil blends, contact me for your custom needs through my website https://www.atimasorganicals.com
Go on and Oilify!
